Welcome to the Chaos Consortium
So I've decided to give a blog a try. The OSR is littered with a plethora of very good blogs, and I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I figure I've got a few key things I want to focus on, instead of trying to cover "the whole OSR".
Heavily used mechanics and workflows
The first category I want to focus on are mechanics based on my actual experience with long-term campaigns. Rather than trying to invent new and random ideas that never get any real play-testing, I will be focusing on the ideas that I've actually stress tested and already worked out the kinks. These can be meta mechanics—like time management, how to take notes, and good tools to use—or game mechanics. I prefer long-term campaigns in an open table style over one-shots or arcs of just a couple sessions, so if that is your preferred style of play this advice may not be as relevant.
My own written work
As mentioned in About this site I have written my own system Chaos & Conquest. I am currently in the process of writing another system/setting combo. I will release teasers and ideas for this setting (working name of Pax Aquilana) here as I continue to work through the game. This is a Post-Apocalyptic Classical setting taking some inspiration from the Roman Republic period. Mechanically this will be another Into the Odd inspired system, with some unique mechanics related to the setting itself.
